  • Noun as Object Complement 

The nouns used as complements follow the direct object and modify or refer to the direct object.
The pattern :
Subject + Verb + direct object + noun 
Function : to show the result of the process indicated by the verb in the sentence.
examples :
  1. George is a clever boy. So, we elected him head of the class.
  2. They elected George Bush president.
Other verbs which have those functions are   :
appoint
call
choose
designate
elect
find
nominate
make
name
select
